1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?

A few things… well my New York home is powered by renewable energy - and I don’t use much energy while at home. I grew up on solar power so we learnt how to use less to ensure we had enough power to keep the lights on into the evening! I turn off or unplug all appliances at the wall after use and only turn on the lights I need. Even phone chargers come out of the wall!

I buy my veggies from local farms (via the farmer’s market) which saves the transport energy that supermarkets waste hauling in produce from all over the world.

I’m not 100% vegetarian, but I only eat meat once every couple of months… because we really don’t need to eat it all the time. And the current ‘average’ quantities of meat consumed have created incredibly destructive industries for the environment. If I do eat meat it’s local / organic / grass fed.

I avoid buying and using plastic in all areas of my life. I’ve got the all-in-one camping spork in my handbag at all times to avoid having to use single-use plastic utensils.

I don’t shop for clothing very often (maybe 4-6 times per year). And when I do I choose quality items that are constructed well, out of quality fabrics. Also, I have been wearing the same items for years. I just rotate them in cycles. I’ve got a suitcase full of items that go to ‘rest’ for a while if I’m tired of them. I’ll check the suitcase at the start of every season and pull out things I haven’t seen for a year or two. It’s like shopping - I get excited about a piece I can bring back into the mix. This only works because they are made-to-last quality items.

Purchasing clothes for 1-5 wears and throwing away is insane. I’m not going to be a part of that. It takes way too much energy from the growing of fibres to the final construction and selling... I wear that process with love and appreciation. -I LOVE the idea of packing away clothes for a rest and then revisiting them. What a great way to sustainably spruce up your wardrobe each season!

2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?

Bruno Pieters. And the brand I’m working with called ADAY, who are quietly introducing more thoughtful design processes such as ‘zero waste fabric cutting’ and opting for recycled fabrics / no dyes in the new pieces. -ADAY has the perfect style where you can buy 4-5 pieces and intermix everything together to create so many new outfits; all of which look fresh and put together with ease!

3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?

I recently started using RMS beauty oil which has St. John`s Wort, Turmeric, Ashwagandha and Olive Leaf… an incredible ingredient list.

4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?

Haha! I either look like a tomboy in a vintage T and jeans, an artist in overalls, or a gypsy in a long flowing vintage dress.

5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?

So much! Multiple projects keeps me going. I work with ADAY across Marketing. I raise awareness for environmental issues through campaigns or events I organize. I lead free public meditations and guide beginners who are new to meditation. And I paint, make music and write. -Recently I had the pleasure of modeling for ADAY (a special treat, all thanks to Jessica!) While we were shooting, some people wanted to shoot on some timber which was on the ground because of it's beautiful texture and color. Jessica quickly came through exclaiming it may be better to not shoot on the timber as we couldn't tell if it had been cut down (more likely the reality) or if it had fallen. It was an issue many of us myself included overlooked but I was so thankful to have Jessica on the shoot to be monitoring the environmental practices and issues to make sure ADAY was promoting their best sustainable selves.

6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?

Growing my own vegetables!
